Why should I use Thermal Deburring (MET)?
Besides exceeding other methods of deburring in cost, speed and repeatability.
Parts are placed in a sealed chamber where a combustible gaseous mixture is injected. An electrical spark ignites the mixture generating intense wave of heat energy. All surfaces are affected and any burrs, debris or flash auto-ignite and burn. The process is very effective on low carbon and alloy steel components and is a preferred method for difficult to reach intersections, interrupted cuts, blind holes. The thermal process is non-contact, but fixturing parts is common to prevent part to part impingement. When bulk processing is acceptable, thermal deburring will usually exceed other methods in cost, speed and repeatability.
